How I See Sri Sai Satcharita -by Saibanisa   E-mail ID : saibanisa@yahoo.com   Chapter 33 of Sri Sai satcharita   Sairam   Sri Hemadri Pant narrated an episode concerning Sri Appasaheb Kulkarni in this chapter. After reading this episode I am reminded of an incident that occurred on 22nd March 1991 evening. I will write about this incident. 22nd March is  my wedding anniversary day. Myself and my wife went to Sri Kanyaka Parameswari temple that evening. When we reached the temple, the priest had not as yet opened the doors of the sanctum sanctorum.  I was meditating on Sri Sai's name and at that time one recluse appeared at the entrance to the temple. He announced that he had come from Sri Kanaka Durga temple at Vijayawada and asked for Dakshina (offering). I gave him one Rupee coin, which he accepted and went away. A thought occurred, after his departure, in my mind that I should have given at least Rs.10 as an offering as it was our anniversary that day. I then resolved that if he came back I would give him Rs.10 as an offering. By that time the temple priest opened the sanctum sanctorum doors. My wife and me performed Kumkuma Archana (ritual worship of the deity using vermilion coloured powder), came out of the temple and sat on the steps outside. A Sikh recluse, wearing white clothes, went around the temple once and sat next to us. He had a cloth bag slung on his shoulder. He held a tin in one hand and a short stick in his other hand. The moment I looked at him I could visualize Sri Sainath in him. I asked the Sikh recluse wherefrom had he come. He replied stating that he came from an Ashram (hermitage) in Nasik City on the banks of Godavari River. I imagined him to be Sri Sai in that form, gave Rs.10 as an offering, which I had resolved to give the earlier recluse if he came back. The Sikh recluse accepted Rs.10 offering, blessed my wife and me and then left. When he was accepting Rs.10 from me the Sikh recluse appeared tome as Sri Sai himself. Sri Hemadri Pant wrote about Sri Haribhau Karnik at the end of this chapter. After reading that episode I resolved in 1991 that I would offer clothes, in the name of Sri Sai, on every Guru Purnima day (a Hindu holy festival). It is for Sri Sainath to accept my resolution of offering clothes in HIS name on every Guru Purnima day. How Guru Purnima will be celebrated by me in future depends on Sri Sainath's grace and not in my hands. According to them , they need money in order to run organization . Then think again , INDIA had many great or say total enlightened master like Guru Nanak dev ji, Mahaatma Budh Ji, Mahaavir JainJi ...Had anyone sold this priceless meditation in their life ? No one .

This Meditation can never be sold . If some one is selling meditation , then that is not meditation. That is concentration and it can not have vibration .

I have a Avdhoot Experience just now between 4:30 to 5:00 AM (IST 20 Jun 2010), I am in USA and my daughter in in India, Two day back she meet a small accident and her Eye was injured. From last two day she couldn’t able to open and see by that eye. Even Doctor also did the treatment and left with some medicine. Finally my wife called me just now and explains this incident. I was filling very helpless, how could help her from USA.  Suddenly, a thought came why not try to Healing him from sanjeevani Shakti. After that I tried to healing her and after 15 minute again call back to India for checking that this healing is working or not. Believe me, my wife pick-up the phone and said, wow it a miracle, my daughter now able to see and she went for walk.

How I See Sri Sai Satcharita -by Saibanisa   E-mail ID : saibanisa@yahoo.com   Chapter 30 of Sri Sai satcharita   Sairam   Recollect the conversation between Kakaji and Shyama narrated in this chapter. If you are unable to recollect I am quoting that conversation now -Kakaji asks Shyama who are you and wherefrom have you come? Shyama replies I am from Shirdi and I have come here to fulfill vow to Goddess Sapthashringi. The moment this sentence was uttered, Kakaji realized that the visitor was from Shirdi and warmly hugged him. There was a similar incident in my life. I had commenced my journey by air from Bombay on 06 May 1991 at 0130 hrs. For Korea. I was afraid of flying, as it was my first experience. After we boarded the aircraft the engines were started and my mind was filled with fear and anxiety. The aircraft lined up at the runway end and commenced its take off run. As the aircraft started gaining in speed my heart beat also started racing. The aircraft took off, commenced its climb which seemed to me as if it was piercing through the sky and I felt like that my life force was leaving for heavenly regions of space. I closed my eyes and started meditating on Sri Sai's name, I drove away all thoughts and my mind was filled with nothing else but Sri Sai. Captain of the aircraft addressed the passengers, after about 10 minutes, through the speakers in the passenger cabin -The aircraft is flying at an altitude of 40000 feet, maintaining a speed of 900 miles per hour and the outside air temperature is -40 degrees C (i.e. 40 degrees below the freezing point of water), you may unfasten your seat belts and relax-. My mind became calm on hearing those words and I opened my eyes. I noticed a tall, must be 6' or more, well built, fair complexioned person with big Kumkum mark on his forehead, was seated in the adjoining seat. He looked like European and the beautiful smile on his face drove away all the fear from my mind. I felt like conversing with him. I asked him - Who are you and where from have you come? The same question put by Kakaji to Shyama in those days. Can you hazard a guess as to what was his reply! I was astonished at that person's reply. At the time of passengers boarding the aircraft he sat next to me. The aircraft started moving, my mind was filled with anxiety and fear and I did not speak to him then. I closed my eyes and started to meditate on Sri Sai to drive away the fear. After opening my eyes I asked him the questions who are you and wherefrom are you coming? I suppose that by now you have guessed correctly his response. I am quoting his response so please read on carefully. He said I am a Hindu and I came directly to Bombay airport, after having darshan of Sri Sai Baba at Shirdi, to take this flight to Hong Kong. When I heard this sentence I was thrilled with joy and hair on my body stood on its end. Words fail to express my condition at that time, as this was the response to my meditation for 10 minutes on Sri Sai for driving away my fear. I felt that Sri Sai himself in the form of that gentleman was sitting next to me. I held his hands and mentally thanked and prayed to Sri Sai. Thereafter I had a very pleasing conversation with him in the Aircraft.. आज तक जितने भी गुरु याद किये जाते है अपने उस विलक्षण शिष्य की श्रेष्ठता के कारण ही याद किये जाते है जिसने अपनी प्रतिभा के बल पर नई ऊँचाइयों को हासिल किया तथा अपने साथ-साथ अपने गुरु का नाम भी रौशन किया. अगर गुरु में विशिष्टता होती तो उसका हर शिष्य पर्मात्मप्राप्त और श्रेष्ठ होता. विलक्षणता तो कबीर, कृष्ण और मीरा में थी जिन्होंने रामानंद, संदीपन और रैदास को अमर कर दिया. अतः डर त्यागो और तर्क करो गुरुओं से आध्यात्म पर, परमेश्वर की प्राप्ति पर और मुक्त हो जाओ छद्म गुरुओं के चुंगुल से जो अपने वाक्जाल से तुम्हें बहला कर तुम्हारी माया लूटने के लिए ही दूकान खोले है . 

 स्वयं सोंचिये जो गुरु परमात्मप्राप्ति जैसा असीम सुख छोड़कर चेलों में लिप्त हो क्या उसे परमात्मा प्राप्त है ?

Sri Sai opposed blind beliefs of the society in those days. HE removed ignorance from them and awakened knowledge in them. Hemadri Pant cited two examples, in this respect, in this chapter of Sri Sai Satcharitra - Village elders decided that firstly Firewood is not to be brought into the village and secondly no goat is to be killed in the village as the epidemic of Cholera was rampant at that time. Sri Sai disregarded these orders, which had no reason or logic, and thus destroyed blind beliefs. I have mentioned that Sri Sai disliked blind beliefs and illogical acts. Now coming to blind beliefs Sri Dayabhai Damodardas Mehta, a resident of Mumbai was suffering from Typhoid fever during 1947. He wore a charmlet, given by a Mystic, around his neck as advised by his friends. He felt that evil forces were troubling him, as his temperature shot up further during nights  instead of getting under control after wearing the charmlet. He then surrendered to Sri Sai and sought HIS protection from the bottom of his heart. Then he heard the following words emanating from Sri Saibaba's picture frame placed on the bedside table -Why are you scared when I am standing, holding a stick in my hand, by your bedside since morning to protect you? Why are you still wearing that charmlet around your neck? Please take it off immediately and discard it -. Sri Mehta obeyed Sri Sai's words. He then went to Shirdi and prayed at Sri Sai's Samadhi and fully recovered his health. What is the lesson to be learnt by Sri Sai Devotees from these incidents? One must always keep far away from Blind Beliefs and Unreasonable cum Illogical acts. My advise  is that when you face any difficulties and unpleasant occurrences in your life, you surrender yourself to Sri Sai and apply Udi / Vibhuti ( Sacred Ash ) from HIS Dhuni (Sacred Fire ) with unflinching faith on your forehead , mix some Udi / Vibhuti in a glass of water and drink it as a medicine for getting rid of physical and mental hardships / ailments.

Hemadri Pant wrote in 23rd chapter that Sri Sai said - Nana only he, who can digest onions, should eat onions -. I will write my thoughts on this statement, so please read on carefully. We can compare LIFE to an ONION. When you peel off the layers of an onion, one by one, you will get in the end the core, which is not pungent but sweet, when you eat it. LIFE (ONION) is covered with layers of Arishad Vargas (behavior / desire patterns). When you peel off Arishad Vargas, Lust - Anger - Greed - Infatuation - Pride (Ego) - Jealousy, from your LIFE then you can live in BLISS. This is Sri Sai's message. We must recognize that Sri Sai has power to digest an onion, covered with layers of Arishad Vargas, and thus fully eliminating them. Let us remember the Proverb said by our elders - The good that can be done by an onion cannot even be done by mother-. I will modify this proverb as - Mother (Sri Sai) will remove the layers, called Arishad Vargas from the ONION (LIFE) and that Mother (Sri Sai) will make it (ONION - LIFE) blissful for HER children ...

I went to Shirdi during December 1991. At dawn I recited the morning Aarati in Dwarakamayi during that visit. After completion of reciting the Aarati, I searched for a sugar candy packet (brought for giving as an offering to Sri Sai) in my pockets but could not find the same. Agony, for my inability to offer sugar candy to Sri Sai, started increasing leaps and bounds in my heart. I was in a dilemma what to do? Should I go back to my hotel room and fetch another packet of sugar candy for offering to Sri Sai or should I seek pardon from Sri Sai for my inability to offer sugar candy? Thoughts in my mind were swinging like a pendulum between these two options. At that moment I noticed a 60-year old woman devotee coming in with a box full of sugar candy and offering some sugar candy from that box to Sri Sai. On seeing that sight, I was filled with an unexplained happiness. Sri Sai never disappoints HIS devotees in Dwarakamayi under any circumstance. How I See Sri Sai Satcharita -by Saibanisa   E-mail ID : saibanisa@yahoo.com   Chapter 21 of Sri Sai satcharita   I am writing this  from my own experiences with Sri Sai, not only being present at Shirdi but also being present at any nook and corner of this world for appearing before an aspirant who devotedly seeks HIM. So read on the following narrative carefully as the contents will generate lot of enthusiasm in you. Hemadri Pant wrote thus at the beginning of 21st chapter - Institution of Yogeeswaras (Saints) has been and is prevalent from times immemorial. Many Yogis (Saints) incarnated at different places and carried on the Tasks assigned to them. Even though they executed their assigned tasks at different places, all of them acted at the behest of a single GOD. But each Saint knew what the other Saints are doing; they never acted at cross-purposes and always complemented each others work. Sometimes the task commenced by one Saint was carried on further by another Saint -. Remember these words and complement these with the experiences in my life, then you will say that what Hemadri Pant has written to be literally true. I completed reading the 51st (last) chapter of Sri Sai Satcharitra, as a part of my daily devotional reading, on 15 May 1991 in Korea. I did not get any revelation or experience Grace of Sri Sai on that day, thus with a heavy heart I spent the whole day doing my assigned work in the office. Mr. Lee, my Korean friend, took me and my colleague Sri Srinivasa Rao out for Dinner at 8:00 p.m. on that day. On completion of dinner at 9:30 p.m., Mr. Lee took us out for a drive in his car to show us Chang Wan City by night. Even though I was looking at beautifully lit buildings, streets, shops etc., my mind was still filled with sorrow as Sri Sai did not give me any revelation or made me experience HIS Grace on completing the reading of the 51st chapter. Sri Sai was aware of my feelings and made my friend Mr. Lee to say to me at 9:45 p.m. - Gopal, please look at the hills at the outskirts of this city, there is a Buddhist Temple on that hill, lights in that temple are still glowing, should you desire to see that temple shall we go there? -. On hearing these words I felt that Sri Sai was speaking to me and immediately gave my consent. Mr. Lee drove his car at a speed of 100 KPH and took us to that hill. It was 10:15 p.m. by then, and the normal closing time of that temple was 10:00 p.m. Mr. Lee said that Let us try our luck, and we raced up to the Buddhist Temple on top of that hill. We had a feeling that the temple doors were kept open especially for us. Buddhist Lama of that temple was dressed in spotless white clothes. His head was fully bald, he had a round face, was very fair (white complexion) in color, and he welcomed us with a bewitching smile on his face. At that instant I experienced that Sri Sai is inviting us into Dwarakamayi. Mr. Lee was greatly surprised at the pleasant invitation from the Lama. Mr. Lee introduced me and my colleague Sri Srinivasa Rao as having come from India to the Buddhist Lama. That Lama expressed his pleasure in meeting us and recalled his visiting Buddha Gaya in India. That Lama took us into the temple and offered us freshly brewed Green Tea as per the Korean Custom. I felt as if Sri Sai was personally serving us tea in Dwarakamayi. When a Judge asked HIM his name in DHULIYA COURT, HE replied - They call me SAI BABA. HE was given THAT NAME by our Sai Bhagat Mhalsapati. Sri Sai told HIS Devotees that HE has no form. Our elders call this aspect as Nirguna Swaroopa ( one without form). Worshipping Sri Sai as Nirguna Swaroopa (a formless one) is actually worshipping Nirguna Brahma (formless absolute). This method of worship is very difficult and hence cannot be practiced by most people. That's why we worship GOD with human form. Worshipping Sri Rama, Sri Krishna and Sri Shirdi Sainath belongs to this category of worshipping GOD with human form. This type of worship is easy for practicing by all of us. Sri Sai is Omnipresent and was found everywhere, so wrote Hemadri Pant in this chapter. I agree with this view of Hemadri Pant. I have experienced Omniscience of Sri Sai many times in my life. Instead of writing all these experiences now , I feel that it will be better to write about them with reference context .. We know that Doctor Pandit applied sandalwood paste on Sri Sai's forehead, but what is the Sai's Philosophy behind that act? We have to ponder on this question. Sri Sai gave a vision of Dr. Pandit's Preceptor in HIMSELF to Dr. Pandit, to prove the point that GOD is always with HIS Devotee and that there is no difference between GOD and a SELF realized person. Sri Sai did not permit some of HIS devotees to enter the Dwarakamayi , as egoism was not fully eliminated in them. I worship daily Sri Sai and worship different Deities unfailingly on Saturdays by visiting temples . I was filled fully with pride (ego) that I am very pious person. When I recollect the way priests, of every temple I visited on Datta Jayanti day (a Saturday) in 1991, deflated my ego indicates certainly that Sri Sai removes egoism from HIS Devotees and opens their eyes to HIS Omniscience. I started believing from that day that GOD is Omnipresent, HE is present in Temple, in your house and in your mind etc., and leaving behind my ego started worshipping HIM at home. Whenever we hear the word Brahmcharya the names of Hanuman, Lakshman, Bhishma, Swami Dayanand, Swami Vivekanand , Mirabai and Gargi etc. flash across our mind. Most of us think that becoming a Brahmchari is an impossible and imaginative idea. But to think like it is wrong. There are lot of people in our society, having different faith, both among men and women who understand the importance this word and follow strict BRAHMCHARYA (celibacy) in their conjugal lives and lead a happy and contented life.   Brahcharya is life itself and every path contrary to it leads to gradual and sure death.

    When the idea “If it is possible to put a check through Brahcharya on family growth and AIDS” first came into my mind , I though practically, its to be a little farfetched. But as I thought and pondered over the idea, I gradually began to feel that it was no so farfetched as it seemed at first. It had some element of truth. Light began to draw upon my mind and I decided to further meditate upon the possibilities of following it in practical life by the common man.

       -BRAHMCHARYA i.e. Celibacy is of two kind- 1.Physical and 2.Mental

     - BRAHMCHARYA means controlling of thoughts, speech, action and passions. It is equally important men and women both.

     - BRAHMCHARYA entails keeping thoughts away from sax relations.

     - Importance of BRAHMCHARYA is infinite. One   adopting it becomes owner of unbounded peace & joy.

          Today, the whole world is scared of dreadful diseases like AIDS. In India alone millions of people are suffering from this disease and crores of rupees are being spend every year in treatment. The chief cause of   this ailment is not realizing the significance of BRAHMCHARYA by common man and hence disregards large degree by adherence to a simple and easy rule. They are giving statutory warning to cigarette smokers ‘Smoking is injurious to health’. Likewise they issue such warnings on all contraceptive devicesnas “For married Couples only”. Or if we move a step further towards ‘Brahmcharya’  They can word it like ‘To be used once a week only’.

   This may appear to be ridiculous to many as the so called western civilization has overshadowed their minds and hearts. And they fail to draw any inspiration from our ancient culture and high civilization. To quote one instance  from the Ramayan-When Rawan was carrying Sita away forcibly and Sita was  throwing away her Ornaments in the way. And Lakkshman, when asked to recognize the Ornaments of sita, could simply reply that he could testify to the ornaments worn by her on her feet only. He could not say any thing about her ornaments worn on her hair or other parts of the body, since he had always kept his eyes on her feet and had never raised them above them. Just look at it and Compare it to the western culture. This was our ancient culture ,civilization and highest tradition ,where ever Bhabhi ( wife of elder brother ) was adored and revered like one’s mother-the magnanimity of it. This was the very Lakshman who had a life of complete Brahmcharya(Celibacy) ,keeping away from his wife for 14 years and served Ram and Sita with affection and devotion in  the forests during their exite.

    Ramayan also speaks about Hanuman who could expand his body to tremendous proportions as well as reduce to a very small size. It was all due to his mastry on Yoga and deftness in Pranayama. Persons may brush it aside as calling this a flight of imagination.But is it asking too much in a world when nothing seems farfetched and scientists are sending man into space,to other planets as well as planning to other worlds of this vast universe.

   Let alone this.we can at lest instruct our youth to recognize the importance of Brahmcharya(Celibacy) and SAYAM(Abstinence) in their lives.The advantage of Pranayam(Regulation of breath)  and yoga Asans. They should be awakened to the gains through these in their practical life.

    This will lead to  two fold benefits-One to the young generation who will channelize their energy towards higher ideas in their lives;and the other ,by their action,the young men will help raise the character of the nation to the new heights.

While undertaking long distance train journey, we reserve a berth in sleeper coach by paying additional charge for ensuring peaceful sleep during night and have a comfortable journey. If we do not pay additional charge for a berth in sleeper coach, we would have to travel in an unreserved general coach, which is always overcrowded with no place to stand even most of the times. We must realize that those who pay charges called Shraddha ( Devotion ) and Saburi ( Patience) to Sri Sai for ensuring their journey of LIFE comfortable are all our Sai Bandhus ( Sai relations or Sai Devotees ). My self and my wife were worshipping Lakshmi (Goddess of Wealth) that Deepavali night at 8 PM in the upstairs room of our house. The priest was reciting holy mantras (verses ) where as my mind was concentrated on Sri Sai Baba's photograph hanging on the opposite wall . Even though worship of Lakshmi was in progress my mind was seeking blessings of Sri Sai. May be for proving the point that Sri Sai never refused wishes of His Devotees, Sri Sai in the form of a pale orange coloured frog was jumping around close to my feet. My mind was filled with uncontrolled happiness. Sri Sai's own words - Only those who can see HIM in all living beings such as Dogs, Cats, Cows, Pigs, Flies etc., realize that HE is omnipresent and offer food to them before partaking it themselves, are HIS true and dear devotees. HE exhorted everyone to give up dualism, that you are one and the remaining living beings are the other, realize the UNITY and serve HIM -. I understand the significance of this statement on seeing that frog. It was Deepawali day, it did not rain that day, there was no rain on preceding ten days, the period was past monsoon time when appearance of frogs is common, worship was taking place in upstairs room and how can that frog appear from nowhere at that point of time and at that place. This incident is enough proof for Sri Sainath fulfilling wishes of HIS devotees as only Sri Sainath could assume the figure of frog and appear in front of me in response to my desire for HIS blessing on that day. How I See Sri Sai Satcharita -by Saibanisa   E-mail ID : saibanisa@yahoo.com   Chapter 8 of Sri Sai satcharita   Hemadri Pant wrote in detail about Baba going around the streets begging for food. Sri Sai used to place all the food collected in an earthen vessel in Dwarakamayi. Firstly the woman, who cleans the Dwarakamai, took some food from the vessel, and then dogs & cats in the Dwarakamai took some food from the vessel, whatever food left in the vessel was then mixed by Sri Sai and partook it. HE never cared for taste and never thought about the taste of what that is being eaten. That's how Sri Sai used to eat his food. Now I will narrate an incident of my childhood. When I was studying in 7 Th standard, Science Master was explaining about Balanced diet in the lesson. I was not at all attentive in the class on that day, and did not listen properly the lesson being taught. At the end of the class, Science Master wanted to test whether I was attentive or not and asked me - What is Balanced diet? -. I had not been attentive when the lesson was being taught, I will have to give some reply otherwise I will have to stand up on the bench as punishment for not being attentive in the class. I thought for a moment and replied - Balanced diet means mixing all the items of food in a vessel first and then partaking the same -. Entire class burst out in loud laughter. If any of those classmates of mine of that day have become Sai Devotees today and if they go back to that day and recapitulate the incident now, I wonder what would their reaction be today.  Tatya Kote Patil and Mhalsapati used to sleep in Dwarakamayi every night with Sri Sai. They used to sleep with their heads eastwards, westwards and northwards respectively and their feet touching each other. When I contemplated on reasons for this unusual sleeping arrangements the answer I got is - There is life on the earth in Easterly , Westerly and Northerly directions, but there is no human life at the South Pole-. Firstly during Deepavali festival in 1910 the way HE saved the life of a blacksmith's son, who accidentally fell into the furnace in a village faraway from Shirdi, by thrusting HIS hand into the Dhuni in the Dwarakamayi in Shirdi. Secondly the manner in which HE transferred bubonic plague bubos from the body of Khaparde's son to HIS body for relieving the suffering of the boy. Sri Sai used to play with small children in Shirdi and HE used to enjoy the pristine love radiated by the children. Now I will write about something that many people do not know. Prior to 1908 Sri Sai Baba did not permit anyone to worship HIM. In 1908 a 6 year old boy named Bapu Rao, recognized Sri Sai Baba as GOD and started worshiping HIM every day by placing one flower on HIS head and saluting HIM. That act of worship started by small boy Bapu Rao acted as a beacon for worshiping HIM by millions of Sai devotees today. Firstly during Deepavali festival in 1910 the way HE saved the life of a blacksmith's son, who accidentally fell into the furnace in a village faraway from Shirdi, by thrusting HIS hand into the Dhuni in the Dwarakamayi in Shirdi. Secondly the manner in which HE transferred bubonic plague bubos from the body of Khaparde's son to HIS body for relieving the suffering of the boy. Sri Sai used to play with small children in Shirdi and HE used to enjoy the pristine love radiated by the children. Now I will write about something that many people do not know. Prior to 1908 Sri Sai Baba did not permit anyone to worship HIM. In 1908 a 6 year old boy named Bapu Rao, recognized Sri Sai Baba as GOD and started worshiping HIM every day by placing one flower on HIS head and saluting HIM. This brings to mind how Sri Sai got Sri Rama Navami to be celebrated in my house in 1991. I will now narrate a small miracle performed by Sri Sai on that day, so please pay attention. Previous night Sri Sai appeared in my dream in the form of an unknown person and told me - Rama and Lakshmana will will come to my  house to accept my  offerings -. Next morning is Sri Rama Navami and I told my wife that Sri Sai would come to our house in the form of two brothers, like Rama and Lakshmana, to accept our offerings. After telling her I completely forgot about the issue. That night after completing the Arati my wife and myself were discussing about the Sri Rama Navami celebrations in our house on that day when my wife suddenly asked me whether Sri Sai did come to our house and accepted our offerings or not. I did not remember this issue till then. I started to recapitulate immediately who all were the guests who came to our house that day from morning to night. My surprise was limitless when I remembered that my friend Sri Raghuraman, along with his two daughters, visited our house in the evening and left after accepting our offerings. My heart was filled with Bliss the moment I recollected that his daughters were twins, and Sri Sai has visited our house in their form. I prostrated myself immediately at the Lotus feet of Sri Sainath and expressed my gratitude. In those days Sri GopalaRao Gund attained Bliss by serving Sri Sai. The earliest source of Hindu mythology is the Vedic literature, the oldest texts of which are the four Vedas, or "Books of Knowledge": Rigveda, Yajurveda, Samaveda, and Atharvaveda. These books are the oldest Indian documents and represent the religion of the Aryan invaders of the subcontinent over the period from 1400 to 500 BC. 

Because it integrates a variety of heterogeneous elements, Hinduism constitutes a complex but largely continuous whole; and, because it covers the whole of life, it has religious, social, economic, literary, and artistic aspects. Hinduism thus resists a precise definition, but a common core of characteristics most Hindus share can be identified. 

Religion with Various Gods and Goddess 
According to Hinduism, three Gods rule the world. Brahma: the creator; Vishnu: the preserver and Shiva: the destroyer. These three Lords have consorts and they are goddesses too. Consort of Brahma is Sarasvati; goddess of learning. Vishnu's consort is Lakshmi; goddess of wealth and prosperity. Shiva's consort is Parvati who is worshipped as Kali or Durga. 
Besides these there are a number of other Gods and Goddesses. To name a few, there is Ganesh, who has an elephant's head and he is also a son of Shiva and Parvati; Hanuman, who is an ape; Surya Lord of sun; Ganga Ma, Goddess of river Ganges; Samundra, Lord of the sea; Indra, king of the Gods; Prithvi, Goddess of earth; Shakti, Goddess of strength. 

Hindu Mythology and the Living Gods 
Heroes of epics like the Mahabharata and the Ramayana are immortalized and are still alive in the day-to-day existence of the common people. The gods of Hinduism are at once super-human and human and there is distinct feeling of warmth and familiarity towards them. 

Rama, the hero of the Ramayana, represents qualities such as honour, courage and valour and is held up as a model of manliness. His wife Sita is the prototypal Indian wife who is carried off by Ravana, the king of Lanka, while Rama and Sita are on exile. Sita's eventual rescue by Rama, his brother Lakshmana, and Rama's faithful monkey-general Hanuman are all woven into this engrossing tale. Stories from this epic have been passed down orally from one generation to the next. Religious fairs, festivals and rituals have kept these legends alive, and there is never an occasion that does not offer an opportunity to retell the old stories. 

The stirring verses of the Mahabharata tell the story of the dynastic struggle between the Pandavas and the Kauravas, who were close cousins. Lord Krishna plays a very important role in this Great Epic. He is a friend, philosopher and guide to Arjuna, one of the Pandavas, and he helps Arjuna overcome his hesitation to kill his close relatives in the battlefield. The wise philosophy of Krishna and his teachings have been embodied in the Bhagwad Gita. Although the popular image of Krishna is that of a god who steals butter as a child, and who, as a youth, plays the flute and entices cows and cowherd girls alike; in his mature years he is depicted as the wise philosopher with a more serious side to his nature. 

One God, Many Names 
Some gods have more than one name. Shiva is also known as Shankar, Mahadev, Natraj, Mahesh amongst others. His worshippers also worship images of bull called Nandi, who was Shiva's carrier and a unique stone design connected to Shiva called the Shiva-Lingham. Ganesh is also called Ganpati. Lord Vishnu went about preserving the world by incarnating 10 times in human forms in times of crisis, and in his every appearance he had a different form which are also worshipped as Gods. Among his appearances, he appeared as Rama, Krishna, Narsimha, Parsuram and Buddha. Krishna also has different names, Gopal; Kishan; Shyam and other names. There are also Gods who can change their forms, such as Parvati who can change into Kali or Durga. 

Not all of these Gods are worshipped by all Hindus, with some Hindus worshipping specific Gods or Goddesses, and some of these have predominance in some regions. Hindus also worship Gods according to their personal needs; those engaged in wrestling, body building and other physical sports worship Hanuman, who in Hindu legends was an ape with lot of physical strength; and those in business worship Lakshmi, Goddess of wealth. 

Though these Hindus worship different idols, there are many Hindus who believe in one God and perceive in these different Gods and Goddesses as different images of the same one God. According to their beliefs, idolatry is the wrong interpretation of Hinduism. 

Unique and Encompassing Religion - Hinduism 
A unique and all-encompassing characteristic of Hinduism is that one devotee may be worshipping Ganesha while a friend worships Siva or Vishnu or Kali, yet both honor the other's choice and feel no sense of conflict. The Hindu religion brings us the gift of tolerance that allows for different stages of worship, different and personal expressions of devotion and even different Gods to guide our life on this earth. They decided to get Baba's Padukas sculpted from stone -. There is parallel to this episode in my life. On a saturday in July 1989, the day of commencement of the first journey to Shirdi in my life, Sri Sai blessed me under a Neem tree in DAE Colony in Hyderabad on the day I commenced my first ever journey to Shirdi and I resolved to install Padukas of Sri Sai under that tree. The way this wish of mine was fulfilled by Sri Sai is even more astonishing. I asked friends for assistance for getting Padukas of Sri Sai sculpted from marble and for installing them under that tree. Not only did I get any help but also many hurdles came in the way. Not knowing how to proceed further in the matter, I stood thinking under that Neem tree on a certain Saturday. Sri Sai prompted the priest in the Hanuman Temple to suggest a way out to me.The priest came out of the Temple, approached me under the Neem tree and made two requests to me. Firstly he wanted me to purchase for him a pair of footwear as his feet are becoming sore by walking bare feet on hot earth. Secondly he wanted me to purchase kerosene stove for him as he was facing immense difficulties in cooking. I was elated on hearing these two requests realizing that Sri Sai ordered me to provide new Padukas(Foot wear) to the temple and arrange for the holy Dhuni (Fire). I purchased both the items next thursday and when I helped the priest to put on the new foot wear I got the satisfactory feeling as if I have installed Padukas of Sri Sai and when I presented the kerosene stove to the priest, I got the feeling of arranging a Dhuni in a newly built Sai Temple. --Saibanisa Gopalarao Ravada

While Kakasaheb Dixit was in meditation in those days, Sri Sai appeared as Vithal of Pandharpur. After a while on the same day a vendor of photographs came along with a photograph matching exactly with the vision he had in meditation. Kakasaheb Dixit purchased that photograph, installed it in his altar and started worshipping the same. While I was meditating in 1991, Sri Sai appeared as SHIVA and told me to worship the visualized form. When I went to Shirdi in December 1991, I was delighted to see in a shop a photograph of Sri Sai as SHIVA matching exactly the vision I had earlier that year. I bought the photograph, installed it in my altar and started worshipping it. When I read Bhagawantrao Kshirsagar's story I felt that what Sri Sai has said then could amply be applicable to my life. My father, a devotee of Sri Sai, passed away in 1974. We did not worship Sri Sai in our house from 1974 to 1989. Sri Sai did not perform HIS LEELA 's and Miracles to show HIS greatness. These LEELAS and Miracles were performed as demanded by the situation for lighting the spark of Enlightenment in the devotees. One such Miracle was flowing of waters from Ganga and Yamuna from the toes of Sri Sai in response to Das Ganu's wish to bathe at the confluence of Ganga and Yamuna at Prayag. How lucky is that Das Ganu for having experienced this miracle. Devotees of Sri Sai tried in-vain to find out about who were Sri Sai's parents, where was he born and from where he came to Shirdi. Actually who can be parents of GOD? How can GOD be born? Such questions about birthplace of GOD and HIS parents are proofs of stupidity and ignorance. Sri Sai told his devotees that HIS Preceptor / Master meditated and practiced Penance in an underground closed chamber under a Neem tree in Shirdi. Today that place is called Guru Sthan (Master's place) by Sai devotees. I went for the first time to Shirdi in 1989 and had Darshan of Sri Sai in Samadhi Mandir. I commenced daily devotional study of Sri Sai Satcharitra on 07 June 1990. When I was asleep once in 1990, Sri Sai appeared in my dream and showed me that underground chamber under Neem tree in Shirdi. That vision coincided exactly with the description of the underground chamber in Sri Sai Satcharitra. This incident has firmly convinced me that as Sri Sai spoke to HIS devotees in 1858, HE continues to do so even today although HE attained Samadhi earlier. The place where Sri Sai Samadhi Mandir stands today in Shirdi was once a beautiful garden lovingly tended by Sri Sai. This act of tending a garden with love by Sri Sai is a clear direction given by HIM to mankind that they should lovingly serve not only fellow human beings and animals but also plants and trees which too have a life. A true example of Loving and Conserving NATURE.

I hope that you have understood the inner significance of wheat grinding. When I was meditating on Sri Sai on this subject, HE gave me a message, which I am narrating to you, so please listen carefully.
“You become wheat to be ground in a grinding mill called society, become flour to be converted into bread for my devotees.”
Each Sai devotee, understanding the significance of this message, must strive for the welfare of fellow human beings and do justice to the society. You can see the grinding mill used by Sri Sai Baba for grinding wheat even today in Sri Sai Samadhi Temple  in Shirdi. Many devotees visit Shirdi to see and pay their respects to that grinding mill. When I paid my respects to that grinding mill in Dwarakamayi I remembered a question posed by Bhakta Kabir to his disciples. He asked
“What is wrong in worshipping a grinding mill made of stone, which gives wheat flour to people in society, when we worship idols sculpted from stone?”
Once Sri Sai Baba, while narrating events of his previous births, said
“I was Kabir in my earlier birth and used to spin yarn.”
That means Sri Sai when born as Kabir used to say,
“Individuals in a society are like a yarn, to be fed into a loom for being woven as good cloth.”
When he was reborn as Sri Sai Baba he said
“All Sai devotees in society must be ground in a grinding mill to become flour for conversion into bread for fellow human beings.--By Saibanisa Gopalarao Ravada

Why do we Invoke God before Puja and Bid God Farewell at the end?

 

Puja is broadly divided into three major parts :

Frst, the worshiper formally invokes God(Avahana), 

The the worshiper serves God with various ritual acts (Upacara) and

Finally, Bids God farewell (Visarjana). 

 

 

'How can God be made to come and go? Is God not always present'? 

 

The answer is-God is always present, but what comes and goes is the modification in the mind of the worshipper. To invoke the Lord is a direction not to Him, but to the worshipper himself to understand that God is there. The worshipper informs or reminds himself/herself that the Lord is present. Similarly, bidding the Lord depart means that the mind of the worshipper is withdrawing itself from God. 

 

 

Why are Flowers offered to the God during Puja?

 

Puja itself means "flower offering." It symbolizes the natural opening of the heart to the Divine the way a flower naturally unfolds its petals. Pujas are to be done with the same purity, openness, receptivity and innocence, a spontaneous updwelling of our innate love of life. 

 

The seers saw in this flower offering the natural form of worship, nature's ultimate expression of love of God, and they sought to embody it in our human lives. Flowers are relatively new comers to evolution and parallel the evolution of mammals. They are the vegetable kingdom's counterpart of devotion. Hence they link us up to the aspiration of Nature herself, to the Divine's seeking of the Divine in its own creative play.

A Mahalakshmi temple called 'Sripuram' and made of more than a tonne of pure gold will glitter and gleam under the sun on August 24 when it is unveiled for consecration by the Sri Narayani Peetam headed by a 31-year-old man who calls himself Narayani Amma. Devotees hail the temple as one of the wonders of the world and say that it is the only temple covered fully with gold.

 

More than 400 gold and coppersmiths from the Thirupathi Thirumala Devasthanam are said to have worked for six years to craft the Rs 600-crore gold temple located on 55,000 sq ft of land on a 100-acre salubrious stretch in Malaikodi, about 6 km from Vellore in north Tamil Nadu.

 

First the coppersmiths set to work creating a copper base on the temple structure with engravings and etchings before the gold, beaten into nine layers of foils, was draped around it. The sanctum sanctorum will hold the deity of Mahalakshmi made of stone granite, but covered with gold kavacham (adornments).

 

"The Sripuram or Spiritual Park is Amma's dedication to the world and mankind," said a trustee of the Peetam, adding that the temple has more gold than the Golden Temple of Amritsar.

Lord Sri Krishna manifests Himself as pure cognitive essence within the surrendered soul who is thus raised above mundane limitations of understanding, i.i., such a person is always able to discern the truth by unerring cognition. It is no exaggeration to say that King Kamsa is the typical atheist ( i.e., empiricist as one who places faith in the material energy and sciences only) and that he is intent on immediately and aggressively suppressing the Truth wherever it (He) may manifest. The atheist has a natural repugnance for transcendence and is ever on the lookout for the appearance of Truth in this world.

Human beings have a natural inclination toward faith in a power that is greater than themselves and beyond their comprehension. Kamsa takes advantage of this by causing such faith to be linked to dogmatism and hypocrisy, which is presented as religious mystery and accepted as such by those having only limited discernment and discrimination.

 

Kamsa's delusion that there is no difference between the material and so-called spiritual is strengthened by similar interpretations of the scriptures by others who share his atheistic understanding of life. Those who interpret the scriptures according to their own manufactured ideas, and manipulate the resulting conclusions   are called word-jugglers (lexicographic interpreters) .

 

Their word-jugglery is accepted by the rulers of the world as the genuine explanation of the scriptures, because the interpretations figure only a material understanding, ruling out any idea of transcendence beyond matter.

 

Kamsa and his contemporary counterparts are fully aware that if human society should develop an understanding of the transcendental, his plans of exploitation and control of people and material resources would be upset.   Therefore he employs word-juggling intellectual agents (academics) to place their materialistic interpretation on any manifestation of the Truth the moment appears.

 

Historical precedent provides justification for his opinions. Therefore, if his materialistic domination is to be maintained he must be careful to demean and disparage any understanding of the transcendent truth the instant it makes it appearance. King Kamsa (read: Asura rulers) acting on his fear is quick to engage academic scholars, who make a "neutral, unbiased and scholarly" assessments of scripture that are "value neutral", and their interpretations are given the highest credence due to their respectable academic standing.   King Kamsa employs his academic serfs to make interpretations based on specious arguments and all manners of hypothetical possibilities, making use of high-sounding specialist vocabulary; all in order to obfuscate the true understanding of the eternal religious principles revealed in scripture.

 

He knows that this course of action is necessary because atheism failed to maintain its dominant position due to the neglect of such measures, allowing a theistic understanding to become established among the fanatical masses. However, this faith in the transcendent can be circumvented and made to yield to an empiric understanding if prompt and decisive measures are adopted at the outset.

 

Nonetheless, Kamsa's conclusions are premature, due to his underestimating the potencies of The Almighty Personality of Godhead, Sri Krishna. When the Lord decides to manifest His presence, as pure cognitive essence to His devotees (see the opening sentence) they become immune to the sinister designs Kamsa had laid for them. Those devotees, regardless of their age, sex and physical or mental condition, display an apparently causeless faith despite Kamsa's efforts, frustrating Kamsa's intentions to mislead them to an atheistic understanding. The manifestation of the uncompromised Truth within those protected souls is utterly incompatible with, and thwarts, the monopolization of the atheistic agenda.

 

When the Lord establishes Himself as Truth in the cognitive understanding and discernment of His devotees, they are immune to the adverse effects of Kamsa's atheistic propaganda. In contrast this result is as astonishing as it is unforeseen, because among the deluded souls Kamsa's atheistic program is absolutely effective.

 

The Atheistic Agenda Begins at Birth

 

As soon as a child comes from its mother's womb it is at once prey for the pseudo-teachers of religion. These imposters are employed by all established churches of the world and they effect the spiritual destruction of all children even with the cooperation of their parents. Such parents do not seek after the help of an able preceptor, not understanding the difference. This is due to the general atheistic disposition of the people in the world, which allows the pseudo-teachers of religion, the Putanas, to possess all the pulpits of the world. No human contrivance can avert this situation.

 

The Subversion of the Churches

 

The church that has the best chance of survival in this damned world is that of atheism under the convenient guise of theism. Churches have always proved to be the staunchest upholders of the grossest form of worldliness from which even the worst of non-ecclesiastical criminals are found to recoil.

 

It is not from any deliberate opposition to the ordained clergy that these observations are made. The original purpose of the established churches of the world may not always be objectionable, but no stable religious arrangement for instructing the masses has yet been successful. Therefore, the Supreme Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, in pursuance of the teachings of the scriptures, makes allowance for the use of unconventional proselytizing methods for the teachers of the eternal religion. The corollary however, does not hold. It does not follow that the mechanical adoption of the unconventional life by any person will make him a fit teacher of religion. The acarya may abandon convention, but for conditioned souls, regulation is necessary for reigning in their inherent worldliness. Nonetheless, even for such a purpose, mechanical regulation has no value, because mechanical activity is not what imparts understanding of the Absolute Truth. The mere pursuit of fixed doctrines or liturgies cannot bend an unqualified person to the true spirit of the doctrine or liturgy. The bona fide teacher of the eternal religion is therefore neither a product of, nor favorer of, any mechanical system, yet in his hands whatever system he arranges has no possibility of degeneration or losing its potency.

 

So uniquely appropriate are his conventions that the very idea of an organized church in an intelligible form, instead of signaling unbounded success, marks the close of the living spiritual movement. The great ecclesiastical institutions are in fact established to act as   dikes and the dams for the purpose of controlling a spiritual current that cannot possibly be limited by any such contrivances. Indeed, such institutions are created and followed because of   a desire on the part of the mundane masses to exploit a spiritual movement for their own material purposes. They also unmistakably indicate the end of the absolute and unconventional guidance of the bona fide spiritual teacher. These institutions incorporate preventive systems, for the purpose of control. However, they have no idea that the true spiritual life is an unrestricted positive eternal life, directed internally by love, and externally always free. Self-realization is always an individual process which will never be attained by the following of a crowd, nor can it be institutionalized to create 'self-realized' graduates.

        

It is a greatly mistaken understanding therefore, for anyone to believe that the apparently worldly successes of any truly spiritual movement will ameliorate the ills of the world. It is those expectants who, coveting such worldly results, become the misled patrons of the mischievous pseudo-teachers of religion, the Putanas, whose function is to stifle the theistic inclination at the very moment of its expected appearance. But the real theistic disposition can never be stifled by the efforts of those Putanas, who have power only over the atheist. It is a thankless but salutary task that they perform for the benefit of their willing victims.

 

When Krishna manifests Himself as the discriminating intelligence of the awakened soul, the Putanas are immediately and decisively silenced, unable to foist their crippled understanding against the discerning devotee. The potent conclusions put forth by the awakened soul effects the total destruction of Putana's crooked personality, and the would -be slayer is herself slain. This is the   reward for the negative services the Putanas unwittingly render—that of protecting theism by misdirecting worldly-minded hypocrites toward the pseudo-religion. Of course neither she, nor the Kamsas, are pleased by their loss. Such however, is the outcome at the appearance of the agent of the Absolute Truth.

 

The effective silencing of the whole race of pseudo-teachers of religion is the first clear indication of the appearance of the Absolute on the mundane plane. The bona-fide teacher of the Absolute, heralds the Advent of Krsna by his uncompromising campaign against the pseudo-teachers of religion.

श्री गणेश पूजन और पद्मशाली समाज

पद्मशाली समाज में श्री गणेश की पूजा बहुत विधिविधान व उत्‍साहपूर्वक की जाती है । हम पद्मशालियों पर भगवान शिव की असीम अनुकंपा प्रारंभ से ही रही है और श्री गणेश भगवान शिव के पुत्र है, इसलिये श्री गणेश की पूजा विशेष आग्रह के साथ पद्मशाली समाज में की जाती है । किन्‍तु यही सम्‍पूर्ण सत्‍य नहीं है । पद्मशालियों के गणेशपूजन के पीछे एक और रोचक कथा भी काफी पहले से चली आ रही है । यह कथा हम पद्मशालियों के लिये अत्‍यंत महत्‍वपूर्ण और उपयोगी है । पद्मशालियों का पौराणिक इतिहास पढ़ने पर ज्ञात होता है की पूर्व में पद्मशाली समाज एक अत्‍यंत प्राचीन व समृध्‍दशाली समाज हुआ करता था । फिर कालांतर में हमारे समाज की दुर्दशा और ये पतन क्‍यों हो गया ? यह कथा इसी विरोधाभास के कारण को स्‍पष्‍ट करने वाली कथा है । यह हमारे पद्मशाली समाज के शापित और शापमुक्‍त होने की अत्‍यंत महत्‍वपूर्ण कथा है । प्रत्‍येक पद्मशाली को इस कथा का ज्ञान आवश्‍यक है । प्राचीनकाल में पद्मशाली समाज में '' प़द्माक्ष '' नाम केमहापुरूष हुये थे, जो परम शिवभक्‍त थे । उनकी शिव भक्ति से प्रसन्‍न होकर जगतपिता ब्रम्‍हाने उन्‍हें एक अति मूल्‍यवान, अदभूत रत्‍न प्रदान किया और एक विशेष हिदायत दी - ' इस रत्‍न का तेज अदभूत है, इसे किसी भी व्‍यक्ति को दिखाना नहीं । इस रत्‍न के प्रभाव से तुम्‍हारे वंश की उन्‍नति होगी ।' ब्रम्‍हाजी की आज्ञा मानकर पद्माक्ष्‍ा ने वह अदभूत रत्‍न सदैव छिपाकर रखा । पद्माक्ष के पास अदभूत रत्‍न है इस बात का ज्ञान श्री गणेश को हुआ । उन्‍होंने पद्माक्ष से उस रत्‍न को देखने की इच्‍छा प्रकट की । किन्‍तु पद्माक्ष ने यह कहते हुए मणी दिखाने से इंकार कर दिया की ब्रम्‍हाजी की आज्ञानुसार मैं वह रत्‍न किसी को भी नहीं दिखा सकता हूँ । इस पर श्रीगणेश अत्‍यंत कुपित हुए और उनहोंने श्राप देते हुए कहा -' तुम्‍हारा व तुम्‍हारे समाज का चरमोत्‍कर्ष स्‍थान से पतन हो जायेगा ।' तब से श्रीगणेश जी का श्राप फलित होना प्रारंभ हो गया । श्राप के प्रभाव से पहले तो पद्मशाली अपने चरमोत्‍कर्ष में पहुँचे, उसके उपरांत तत्‍काल ही पतन होना आरंभ हो गया । पद्मशाली समाज के शापित होने के पश्‍चात् दक्षिण भारत में श्रीराम अग्रहायण गॉंव में परब्रम्‍ह मूर्ति नामक एक महापुरूष हुये । वे परम शिवभक्‍त व शिवपूजक थे । परब्रम्‍ह मूर्ति 'पद्मभवाचार्य' के नाम से प्रसिध्‍द थे । वे विजय नगर सम्राज्‍य के हंपी गॉंव में रहते थे । उन्‍होंने समाज के विकास के अनेको कार्य किये । उन्‍होंने अत्‍यंत श्रध्‍दाभाव से श्री गणेश की उपासना की। उनके तप से श्री गणेश जी अत्‍यंत प्रसन्‍न हुए । परब्रम्‍हमूर्ति के सम्‍मुख प्रकट होकर उन्‍हें वरदान मांगने को कहा । तब परब्रम्‍हमूर्ति जी ने पद्मशाली समाज के हित के लिये वरदान मांगते हुए कहाकि - ' भगवान आपके श्राप के प्रभाव से पद्मशाली समाज का पतन हो रहा है । अत: पद्मशाली समाज को आप श्रापमुक्‍त करें जिससे पद्मशाली समाज अपने पूर्व वैभव को प्राप्‍त कर सके और समाज की उन्‍नति हो सके, इस तरह का वरदान हमें प्रदान करें ।' तब श्री गणेश जी ने उन्‍हें आर्शीवाद देते हुए कहा कि -' तथास्‍तुवत्‍स ! कलि‍युग में पांच हजार वर्षों के उपरांत पद्मशाली समाज को पूर्व वैभव की प्राप्ति होगी और समाज की उन्‍नति होगी।' और गणेशजी अर्न्‍तध्‍यान हो गये । ई .सन् 1900 से पूर्व पद्मशाली समाज दीन-हीन, दुर्बल, धनहीन, ज्ञानहीन एवं धैर्यहीन था । सभी क्षेत्र में समाज पिछडा हुआ था । ई.सन् 1900 में कलियुग प्रारंभ होकर पॉंच हजार वर्ष पूर्ण हो चुके हैं । तब से धीरे-धीरे पद्मशाली समाज ने विकास करना प्रारंभ कर दिया है ।पिछले सौ वर्षो में अपनी बुध्दिमता, कौशल, त्‍याग और परिश्रम से समाज कछुये सी धीमी गति से ही सही विकास की ओर उन्‍मुख हो रहा है । कुरीतियों व रू‍ढियों का त्‍याग किया जा रहा है । विविध उद्योग व व्‍यवसाय के क्षेत्र में प्रवेश किया जा रहा है । इस प्रकार से गणेश जी के वरदान से पद्मशाली समाज की उन्‍नति होने लगी है । पद्मशाली समाज को पहले श्राप देने वाले तथा बाद में श्रापमुक्ति का वरदान देने वाले दोनों ही गणेश जी हैं । समाज की प्रगति के लिये श्री गणेश जी ही आधार है , इस सत्‍य को पद्मशाली समाज के बंधु-बांधवों ने प्राचीन काल से ही जान लिया था और समाज को समृध्दि व ज्ञान का आर्शीवाद श्री गणेश से ही निरंतर प्राप्‍त होता रहा है, अतएव प्राचीनकाल से ही प्रत्‍येक वर्ष भद्रपाद शुध्‍द चतुर्थी को समारोहपूर्वक धूमधाम से श्री गणेश जी की मूर्ति अपने-अपने घरों में स्‍थापित करते आ रहे हैं । आज भी इस पवित्र और पूजनीय प्रथा का निरंतर निर्वाह किया जा रहा है । छत्‍तीसगढ़ पद्मशाली समाज द्वारा प्रकाशित सामाजिक पत्रिका ''पद्म जागृति'' से

संसार में जो हम भिन्न-भिन्न वस्तुएँ देखते हैं, उनके अनेक रूप हैं। विविध रंगों से मिलने नये रंग बन जाते हैं। लाल और पीला मिलाने से नारंगी रंग बन जाता है। पीला और नीला मिलाने से हरा। इस प्रकार सैकड़ों, हजारों रंग बन सकते हैं, परन्तु इनके मूल में वही सातो रंग हैं जो इन्द्रधनुष में दिखाई देते हैं। इन सात रंगों के मूल में भी एक ही रंग रह जाता है जो सफेद है, किंवा रंगरहित शुद्ध प्रकाश है। सूर्य की प्रकाश रेखा को ‘प्रिज़्म’ में पार करने से सात रंग स्पष्ट दिखाई देते हैं। वैसे, सूर्य की किरण शुद्ध उज्ज्वल बिना रंग की प्रतीत होती है।
इसी प्रकार संसार की जो विभन्न वस्तुएँ हमें दिखाई देती हैं, उनमें पृथ्वी जल, अग्नि, वायु और आकाश तत्व है। उनमें तत्त्वों का सम्मिश्रण भिन्न-भिन्न प्रकार से है। किसी में कोई तत्त्व कम है, किसी में कोई अधिक परन्तु यह समस्त जगत् केवल पांच तत्त्वों का प्रपंच है। यह पांच तत्त्व भी केवल आकाश से वायु, वायु से अग्नि, अग्नि से जल और जल से पृथ्वी। पृथ्वी का गुण ‘गन्ध’, जल का ‘रस’, अग्नि का ‘तेज’ (रूप), वायु का ‘स्पर्श’ और आकाश का गुण ‘शब्द’ है। जैसे संसार के सभी पदार्थों के मूल में आकाश तत्त्व है, उसी प्रकार हम यह कह सकते हैं कि संसार के सभी पदार्थों का गुण ‘शब्द’ है। इसी कारण शब्द को ‘शब्द-ब्रह्म’—अर्थात् परम प्रभु परमेश्वर का प्रतीक माना गया है।

परिणामगतः तो सब शब्द ब्रह्म के रूप ही हैं किन्तु भिन्न-भिन्न शब्दों का गुण और प्रभा भी भिन्न-भिन्न हैं और प्रत्येक शब्दों को अंक या संख्या में परिवर्तित कर उसकी माप की जा सकती है। कोई शब्द (या शब्दावली) 7000 बार आवृत्ति करने पर पूर्णता को प्राप्त होता है किसी का 17000 बार आवृत्ति करने पर परिपाक होता है। ‘संख्या’ और ‘शब्द’ के सम्बन्ध से हमारे ऋषि-महर्षि पूर्व परिचित थे, किसी कारण सूर्य के मंत्र का जप 7000 चन्द्रमा का 11000, तथा मंगल का 10000, बुद्ध का 9000, ब्रहस्पति का 19000, शुक्र का 16000, शनि का 23000, राहु का 18000 और केतु का 17000 जप निर्धारित किया है। किसी देवता के मंत्र में 22 अक्षर1 होते हैं तो किसी के मंत्र में 36। ‘शब्द’ संख्या का घनिष्ट वैज्ञानिक सम्बन्ध है।
इसी प्रकार संख्या और क्रिया का घनिष्ठ संम्बन्ध है। शून्य संख्या (0), निष्क्रिय निराकार, निर्विकार ब्रह्म’ का द्योतक है और ‘1’ पूर्ण ब्रह्म की उस स्थिति का द्योतक है, जब वह अद्वैत रूप से रहता है। कहने का तात्पर्य यह है कि ‘शब्द’ और संख्या (अंक) में सम्बन्ध होने के कारण-समस्त पदार्थों के मूल में जैसे ‘शब्द’ है—

वैसे ही अंक भी। शब्द के मूल—आकाश को—‘शून्य’ कहते हैं और अंक के मूल को भी ‘शून्य’ कहते हैं। ‘शून्य’ से ही शब्द और अंक का प्रदुर्भाव होता है। यदि ‘अंक (संख्या) का किसी वस्तु या क्रिया से सम्बन्ध नहीं होता तो हमारे शास्त्र 108 मणियों की माला बनाने का विधान नहीं करते प्रत्येक संख्या का एक महत्त्व है। 25 मणियों की माला पर जप करने से मोक्ष, 30 की माला से धन सिद्धि, 27 की माला से स्वार्थ सिद्धि, 54 से सर्वकामावाप्ति और 108 से सर्व प्रकार की सिद्धियाँ हो सकती हैं। किंतु अभिचार कर्म में 15 मणियों का माला प्रशस्त है।1

108 संख्या का क्या रहस्य है ? सूर्य के राशिभ्रमण में जब एक पूरा चक्र लग जाता है, तो एक वृत्त पूरा करता है। एक वत्त् में 360 अंश होते हैं। इस प्रकार सूर्य की एक प्रदक्षिणा में अंशों की यदि कला बनाई जावे तो 360x60=21600 कला हुईं। सूर्य छः मास उत्तर अयन में रहता है और छः मास दक्षिण अयन में। इस हिसाब से 21600 को दो भागों में विभक्त करने से 10800 संख्या प्राप्त हुई।

अब दूसरे प्रकार से विचार कीजिए। प्रत्येक दिन में सूर्योदय से लेकर दूसरे सूर्यास्त तक ‘काल’ का परिमाण 60 घड़ी माना है। एक घड़ी के 60 पल और 1 पल के 60 विपल। इस प्रकार एक अहोरात्र में 60x60x60=216000 विपल हुए। इसके आधे दिन में 108000 और इतने ही रात्रि में।

पैसे, तोल, माप, थर्मामीटर आदि एक ही दशमलव के आधार पर बनाए जा रहे हैं हमारे प्राचीन ऋषियों ने ‘काल’ और ‘संख्या’ का समन्वय किया था। इसी के समीकरण और सामञ्जस्य स्वरूप 108000 की संख्या उपलब्ध हुई और दशमलव की प्रणाली के अनुसार बिन्दु छोड़ देने से 108 की संख्या प्राप्त हुई। हमारे प्राचीन ऋषियों ने ‘शब्द’, काल, संख्या आदि सभी का इस प्रकार सामञ्जस्य कर दिया था कि प्रत्येक नाम का—नाम के अक्षरों का संख्या पिंड, बनाने से उसके सब गुण उस संख्या से प्रकट हो जाते थे। इसी आधार पर जय-पराजय चक्र आगे 9वें प्रकरण में दिये गये हैं। ऋणि और धनी—कौन किसका कर्जदार है अंक-विद्या, मंत्र-विद्या, आदि से सम्बन्ध रखता है, क्योंकि देना-पावना में संख्या में ही होता है।1
नाम को ‘संख्या में परिवर्तित करना—एक बहुत गंभीर विद्या है। आजकल के वैज्ञानिक प्रत्येक भोज्य पदार्थ को ‘‘कैलोरी’’ में परिवर्तित कर यह बताते हैं कि किस भोजन में कितना शक्तिर्धक साधन है। इसी प्रकार किसी नाम को संख्या में परिवर्तित करके यह बताया जा सकता है कि कौन से नाम का व्यक्ति, किससे अधिक शक्तिशाली होगा। प्रत्येक नाम का व्यक्ति उस व्यक्ति का प्रतीक है। विद्वानों के मत से मनुष्य जब सोया हुआ रहता है—तब भी उसके चैतन्य की एक कला जगी हुई रहती है। और उसे सावधान या सतर्क किए रहती है। यदि 20 मनुष्य एक ही स्थान पर सोये हुए हों तो प्रायः जिसका नाम लेकर आवाज दी जाती है वही जग जाता है। ‘नरपति जय-चर्चा1 नामक ग्रंथ में लिखा है कि मनुष्य के उसी नाम का विचार करना चाहिए जिस से उसे आवाज़ दी जावे तो वह सोता हुआ जग जावे। ‘नाम’ और नाम की प्रतीक ‘संख्या’ अनादिकाल से, फलादेश में उपयुक्त होते रहे हैं। जिस पाकर रेडियो की सूई जिस ‘संख्या’ पर स्थिर कर दीजिए उसी ‘संख्या’ पर प्रवाहित शब्द रोडियो पर सुनाई देने लगते हैं—उसी प्रकार ‘संख्या’ विशेष और उस ‘संख्या’ के प्रतीक ‘वस्तु’ या व्यक्ति में आकर्षण होता है।
अमेरिका में नवीन अनुसंधान द्वारा यह सिद्ध कर दिया जा चुका है कि बहुत-से प्रकार के कीड़े, अपने सजातीय कीड़ों को सन्देश या संवाद भेज सकते हैं—इसका कारण यह है कि जिस प्रकार एक संख्या पर सूई स्थिर करने से रेडियों में आवाज़ आने लगती है उसी प्रकार यह कीड़े भी जो संवाद प्रेषित करते हैं उनको उनके सजातीय कीड़े ग्रहण कर सकते हैं। भिन्न-भिन्न प्रकार के कीड़ों को एक बड़े बाग़ के अलग-अलग कोनों पर छोड़ा गया है—वह एक ही केन्द्र स्थल पर जाकर मिल जाते हैं। एक खास प्रकार की मक्खी के झुँड को दो स्थानों पर-परस्पर एक दूसरे से एक मील दूर-छोड़कर देखा गया कि वे एक ही स्थान पर आकर मिल जाती हैं। 2 )या जुगनू को लीजिए। मादा जुगनू के पर नहीं होते, नर के होते हैं। दोनों के शरीर से प्रकाश निकलता है किन्तु मादा जुगनू के शरीर से अधिक तेजी से रोशनी निकलती है और इस चमक से आकृष्ट होकर नर जुगनू उसके पास आता है। भिन्न-भिन्न व्यक्तियों में परस्पर क्यों आकर्षण या घृणा प्रादुर्भाव होता है-यह स्थूल दृष्टि से नहीं जाना जा सकता। किन्तु सब के मूल में वैज्ञानिक रहस्य है जंगल में दाना डाल दीजिए। चिड़िया और कबूतर आ जावेंगे। चीनी फैला दीजिए; चीटियाँ इकट्ठी हो जावेंगी। मरा हुआ जानवर डाल दीजिए, गृद्ध और चील आकाश को आच्छादित कर लेंगी। और कहीं रात्रि में बकरा, या पाड़ा बाँध दीजिए तो शेर शिकार के लिए आजावेगा, चीनी पर शेर नहीं आता। बँधे हुए बकरे की खुशबू से चिड़ियाँ नहीं आतीं। इसी प्रकार ‘1’ की द्योतक संख्या या वस्तु की ओर उसके सहधर्मी आकृष्ट होते हैं। ‘9’ द्योतक संख्या या वस्तु या व्यक्ति की ओर ‘9’ के सहधर्मी आकृष्ट होंगे; अन्य वर्ग के नहीं। जिन वस्तुओं या व्यक्तियों में साधर्म्य होता है उनमें परस्पर आकर्षण भी होता है, यह सामान्य नियम है। एक बच्चा यह नहीं समझता कि भिन्न-भिन्न ऋतुओं और व्यक्तियों से क्या सम्बन्ध है, परन्तु जानने वाले जानते ही हैं कि आम गर्मी में पकते हैं और संतरे जाड़े में।
कम उम्र का बच्चा, चिड़िया, कमेड़ी, कबूतर, सब को ‘चिड़िया’ कहता है; परन्तु चिड़िया चिड़े के साथ ही जाकर रहेगी, कबूतर कबूतरी के साथ ही। इस प्रकार अंक-ज्योतिष से अनभिज्ञ सब अंकों को एक-सा समझते हैं; परन्तु इस विद्या को जानने वाले यह जानते हैं कि ‘1’ मूल अंक वाले व्यक्ति को ‘1’ मूल अंक शुभ जावेगा उसकी विशेष मित्रता भी ‘1’ मूल अंक वाले व्यक्ति से होगी तथा ‘9’ मूल अंक वाले को ‘9’ मूल अंक की संख्या शुभ जावेगी और उसकी विशेष मित्रता भी ‘9’ मूल-अंक वाले व्यक्ति से होगी।
नाम और संख्या-नाम और ‘जन्म-तारीख’ या यह कहिये कि व्यक्ति, वस्तु और संख्या में जो सामंजस्य हो उसी के कारण किसी व्यक्ति के जीवन में या यों कहिए किसी राष्ट्र के जीवन में किसी ‘संख्या’ विशेष का महत्त्व हो जाता है। इसको हम केवल ‘कल्पना या ‘संयोग’ कह कर नहीं टाल सकते। आगे के प्रकरणों में इसके अनेक उदाहरण दिये गये हैं।
मकड़ी जाला बुनती है—बुनते समय कोई क्रम दिखाई नहीं देता, परन्तु बनने पर क्रम नजर आता है। मधु मक्खियाँ छत्ता बनाती हैं; बाहर से कोई क्रम नज़र नहीं आता परन्तु भीतर कितना अधिक और सूक्ष्म क्रम रहता है, यह केवल इस विषय की पुस्तकों को पढ़ने से ही मनुष्य जान सकता है।

कहने का तात्पर्य है कि जैसे एक बच्चे की दृष्टि में—डाकिए के हाथ की सब चिट्ठियाँ एक सी मालूम होती हैं, परन्तु डाकिया उन्हें मकान के नम्बर नाम के क्रम से बाँट देता है, उसी प्रकार हमारा जीवन—प्रत्येक का भिन्न-भिन्न ‘अंको’ के क्रम से चलता है और जब वह ‘संख्या’—उस ‘संख्या’ का द्योतक वर्ष या दिन आता है, तो हमारे जीवन में महत्त्वपूर्ण घटना होती है। इस अंक-विद्या का पूरी तरह उद्घाटन करना संभव नहीं। भागवत् गीता में 18 अध्याय क्यों हैं ? महाभारत में 18 पर्व क्यों ? 18 पुराणों की संख्या का वैज्ञानिक आधार क्या है ? इस ‘18’ की योग संख्या 1+8=9 है। यह क्यों ? हमारे ऋषि मुनि दिव्य ज्ञान और ऋतम्भरा प्रज्ञा के कारण जो पद-चिह्न छोड़ गये हैं, हम तो केवल उनका अनुकरण मात्र ही कर सकते हैं। श्रीमद्भागवत में 12 स्कन्ध ही क्यों हैं ? दशम स्कन्ध इतना बड़ा हो गया है कि उसे ‘पूर्वार्ध’ और ‘उत्तरार्ध’—इन दो खण्डों में विभाजित करना पड़ा। ऐसा न करके 13 स्कन्ध ही क्यों न कर दिये ? रामायण का नवाह (9 दिन का परायण) तथा भागवत सप्ताह (7 दिन का परायण) क्यों ? गायत्री में 24 अक्षर ही क्यों हैं ?

विवाह के समय ‘सप्तपदी’ ही क्यों होती है। गणेश की चतुर्थी, दुर्गा की अष्टमी, सूर्य की सप्तम, विष्णु की एकादशी तथा रुद्र की प्रदोष-व्यापिनी त्रयोदशी ही क्यों ?—आदि अनेक ऐसे अंक विद्या सम्बन्धी वैज्ञानिक विषय हैं जिनका विवेचन करना, संभव नहीं। अंक विद्या का रहस्य इतना गंभीर है कि इसमें जितना अधिक नीचे उतरेंगे उतने ही बहुमूल्य रत्न हाथ लगेंगे। यदि आप इसके नियमों का अध्ययन कर, अपने स्वयं की जीवन की घटनाओं से यह नतीजा निकाल सकें कि कौन से दिन, और तारीख को आप को ‘शुभ’ या ‘अशुभ’ जाती है तो केवल इस ज्ञान से आप अपने को बहुत लाभ पहुँचा सकते हैं। हाँ, यह कह देना आवाश्यक है कि जिस प्रकार एक साधारण नियम होता है और उसका अपवाद होता है; उसी प्रकार अंक-विद्या के जो साधारण नियम बताये गये हैं उनके अपवाद भी होते हैं। कभी-कभी उस अंक वाले दिन या वर्ष में, वह ‘अंक’ तो शुभ फल दिखाने की चेष्टा करता है किन्तु किसी अन्य ग्रह के प्रभाव के कारण फल ठीक नहीं बैठता। इससे अनुत्साहित नहीं होना चाहिए। गंभीर अध्ययन तथा धैर्य पूर्वक लम्बे समय तक फल मिलाने से-कौनसा ‘अंक’ शुभ है कौन सा अशुभ—यह अनुभवसिद्ध हो जाता है।

ચુનીલાલ આશારામ ભાવસારનો જન્મભાદરવા વદ ચોથ  સવંત ૧૯૫૪ ઇ.સ ૪-૯-૧૯૫૪ ના રોજ સાવલી  ગામે થયો હતો.માતાનું નામ સૂરજબા ,પિતાનુ નામ આશારામ  ,અટક  ભાવસાર

રંગાટી કાપડની પેઢી ધમધોકાર ચાલતી અને કુટુંબ સમૃદ્ધ હતું.પણ પરિસ્થિતિ કથળી  પેઢી અને મકાન છોડી સૌ કાલોલના નાના મકાનમાં રહેવા લાગ્યા.સુખનો સૂરજ આથમી હવે પરિવાર પર દુઃખનો અંધકાર ઘેરાવા લાગ્યો. આઠ વર્ષના ચુનીલાલે પણ કામ કરી પૈસા રળવાનું ચાલુ કરી દીધું.આ જ અરસામાં એમણે અભ્યાસ ચાલુ કર્યો. સમજશક્તિ અને સ્મૃતિ બંને સતેજ હતાં. પણ આગળ અભ્યાસની ફી ભરવાનાં નાણાંની મુશ્કેલી. શાળાના આચાર્ય અને ઇન્સ્પેક્ટરને વાત કરી, શાળાનુ; કામ કરી પૈસા મેળવ્યા અને માત્ર દોઢ વર્ષમાં પછીનાં ચાર વર્ષનો અભ્યાસ પૂરો કર્યો. આગળ ભણવાની ઇચ્છા ખરી પણ પૈસા નહિ.ગોધરાના એક અનાજના વેપરીને ત્યાં નોકરી મળી. વેપારીએ ઘરાકનું ઓછું અનાજ દેવાનો કીમિયો બતાવ્યો પણ અપ્રમાણિકતા નહિ આચરતાં નોકરી ખોવી પડી.સદ્દભાવીઓની સહાનુભૂતિથી તેમણે ઈ. ૧૯૧૯માં સારાં ગુણાંક પ્રાપ્‍ત કરી મેટ્રિકની પરીક્ષા પાસ કરી. એ જ રીતે અનેક અડચણો વેઠતાં કૉલેજશિક્ષણ શરૂ કર્યું.

ઈ. ૧૯૨૧માં ગાંધીજીની અસહકારની હાકલ પડી. કૉલેજ છોડી તે ગુજરાત વિદ્યાપીઠમાં જોડાયા. ગાંધીજીના ‘નવજીવન‘ માં કામ કરી ખર્ચ કાઢતા.દેશપ્રેમનો જુવાળ ઊભરાતો ગયો અને વિદ્યાભ્યાસ છોડી હરિજનકાર્યપ્રવૃત્તિમાં જોડાઈ ગયા.

વાઈનું દરદ લાગું પડ્યું આથી આત્મહત્યા કરવાનો નિશ્ચય કર્યો. ઊંચેથી નર્મદામાં ભૂસકો માર્યો પરંતુ નદીનાં ઊછળતાં મોજાંઓએ એમને કિનારે પાછા ધકેલી દીધા. જીવનનો નાશ ઈશ્વરને મંજૂર નથી એમ સમજાયું.બહાર નીકળતાં એક સાધુએ હરિનામરટણની દવા રોગમુક્તિ માટે બતાવી. ઘેર આવ્યા પછી વાઈથી દાદર પરથી ગબડ્યા ત્યારે તે સાધુમહાત્મા હાજરાહજૂર દેખાયા.એવામાં એમને બાલયોગી મહારાજ સાથે ભેટો થયો. બાલયોગી મહારાજે ઈશ્વરમાર્ગે જવાની દીક્ષા આપી. અમુક જગ્યા બતાવી ત્યાં આશ્રમ સ્થાપવા સલાહ આપી. આજે ત્યાં ‘હરિ ૐ આશ્રમ‘ વિસ્તાર્યો છે. આધ્‍યાત્મિક શાંતિ માટે નડિયાદ, સુરત વગેરે સ્‍થળોએ મૌન મંદિરોની સ્‍થાપના કરી

તારીખ તા. ૨૨-૭-૧૯૭૬ના દિવસે ફાજલપુર જઈ બે-ચાર વ્‍યક્તિઓની હાજરીમાં પોતાની જીવનલીલા સંકેલી લીધી. પૂજ્ય શ્રી મોટાનો આખરી જીવનસંદેશ પણ કેટલો મહાન છે!

“મારા મૃત્‍યુ નિમિત્તે જે ભંડોળ થાય તેનો ઉપયોગ શાળાના ઓરડા બાંધવામાં કરવો.”

]]> यज्ञ क्यों करना चाहिए http://www.totalbhakti.com/hindu-blog/Gayatrijalna/145.html http://www.totalbhakti.com/hindu-blog/Gayatrijalna/145.html 2010-02-24 07:36:59added By : Gayatrijal others यज्ञ भारतीय संस्कृति का प्रतीक है । हिन्दू धर्म में जितना महत्व यज्ञ को दिया गया है उतना ओर किसी को नहीं दिया गया । हमारा कोई भी शुभ अशुभ धर्म कार्य इसके बिना पूरा नहीं होता । जन्म से मृत्यु तक सभी संस्कारों में यज्ञ आवश्यक है । हमारे धर्म में वेदों का जो महत्व है वही महत्व यज्ञों को भी प्राप्त है क्योंकि वेदों का प्रधान विषय ही यज्ञ है । वेदों में यज्ञ के वर्णन पर जितने मंत्र हैं उतने अन्य किसी विषय पर नहीं । यदि यह कहा जाये कि यज्ञ वैदिक धर्म का प्राण है तो इसमें भी अत्युक्ति नहीं । वैदिक धर्म यज्ञ प्रधान धर्म है । यज्ञ को निकाल दें तो वैदिक धर्म निष्प्राण हो जायेगा । यज्ञ से ही समस्त सृष्टि उत्पन्न हुई ।

भगवान स्वयं यज्ञ रूप हैं और तदुत्पन्न सम्पूर्ण सृष्टि भी यज्ञ रूप है तो यज्ञ के अतिरिक्त संसार में कुछ है ही नहीं । चारों वेद भी इस यज्ञ रूप भगवान से उत्पन्न हुए है, अतः यह भी यज्ञ रूप है और उनमें जो कुछ भी है वह भी यज्ञ के अतिरिक्त और कुछ नहीं है । ऋगवेद, यजुर्वेद तथा अथर्ववेद में प्रश्न पूछा है कि मैं तुमसे पूछता हूँ कि सम्पूर्ण जगत को बांधने वाली वस्तु कौन है? इसका उत्तर दिया है कि यज्ञ ही इस विश्व ब्रह्माण्ड को बांधने वाला है । हमारे पूर्वज भली प्रकार जानते थे कि-

स्वास्थ्य सुख सम्पत्ति दाता, दुःख हारी यज्ञ है ।
भूलोक से ले सूर्य तक, शुभ परम पावन यज्ञ है॥
सर्व भूतों के सभी विध, दुख नसावन यज्ञ है ।

इसलिए प्राचीन काल में घर-घर में यज्ञ होते थे इस पुण्य भूमि में इतने यज्ञ होते रहे कि हमारा देश ही यज्ञिय देश कहलाया गया । पहले बड़े-बड़े राजा महाराजा भी यज्ञ के रहस्य को भली प्रकार समझते थे ओर बड़े-बड़े यज्ञों का आयोजन किया करते थे । महाराजा रघु ने दिग्विजय के उपरान्त विश्वजित नामक यज्ञ में समस्तम खजाना खाली कर दिया था । उनके पास धातु का एक पात्र तक नहीं बचा था । पाण्डवों ने भगवान ने कृष्ण की अनुमति से महाभारत के बाद राजसूय यज्ञ कराया था । भगवान राम ने अश्वमेधादि बहुत बड़े-बड़े यज्ञ कराये थे । दैत्यराज बलि ने इतना बड़ा यज्ञ कराया था कि यज्ञ की शक्ति से सम्पन्न होकर उसने इन्द्र को स्वर्गलोक से निकाल दिया था । जिस पर उदिति की तपस्या करने पर, इन्द्र को इन्द्रासन वापिस दिलाने के लिये विवश होकर भगवान को स्वयं वामन रूप में उपस्थित होना पड़ा इन्द्र ने यज्ञों के बल पर ही इन्द्रासन प्राप्त किया था ।

Holi in Uttar Pradesh 
            Uttar Pradesh is the best place in India to experience the true flavor of the festival of colors Holi. Celebrations in Mathura and Varanasi are the most exciting amongst all of the celebrations in the state. The essence of Holi celebrations in Brajbhoomi is said to be kept the same even today, as it was celebrated thousands years back (during Krishna's era). The concept of the Holi at Braj is that men from Nandagaon (Village of Lord Krishna) raid Barsana (Radha's village) to raise a flag on Shri Radhikaji temple. प्राणाकर्षण प्राणायाम


(1) ''प्रातःकाल नित्य कर्म से निवृत्त होकर पूर्वाभिमुख पालथी मारकर बैठिए । दोनों हाथ घुटनों पर रखिए । मेरुदण्ड सीधा रखिए । नेत्र बन्द कर लीजिए । ध्यान कीजिए की अखिल आकाश में तेज और शक्ति से ओत-प्रोत प्राण-तत्त्व व्याप्त हो रहा है । गरम भाप के, सूर्य के प्रकाश में चमकते हुए जैसी बादलों शक्ल के प्राण का उफान हमारे चारों ओर उमड़ता चला आ रहा है और उस प्राण उफान के बीच हम निश्चित, शान्त-चित्त एवं प्रसन्न मुद्रा में बैठे हुए हैं ।''

(२) ''नासिका के दोनों छिद्रों से धीरे-धीरे साँस खींचना आरम्भ कीजिए और भावना कीजिए कि प्राण-तत्त्व के उफनते हुए बादलों को हम अपनी साँस द्वारा भीतर खींच रहे हैं । जिस प्रकार पक्षी अपने घोंसले में, साँप अपने बिल में प्रवेश करता है, उसी प्रकार यह अपने चारों ओर बिखरा हुआ प्राण-प्रवाह हमारी नासिका द्वारा साँस के साथ शरीर के भीतर प्रवेश करता है और मस्तिष्क, छाती, हृदय, पेट, आतों से लेकर समस्त अंगों में प्रवेश कर जाता है ।''

(३) ''जब साँस पूरी खींच जाय तो उसे भीतर रोकिये और भावना कीजिए कि-जो प्राण-तत्त्व खींचा गया है, उसे हमारी भीतरी अंग-प्रत्यंग सोख रहे हैं । जिस प्रकार मिट्टी पर पानी डाला जाय तो वह उसे सोख जाती है, उसी प्रकार अपने अंग सूखी मिट्टी के समान हैं और जलरूपी इस खींचे हुए प्राण को सोखकर अपने अन्दर सदा के लिए धारण कर रहे हैं । साथ ही प्राण-तत्त्व में सम्मिश्रित चैतन्य, तेज, बल, उत्साह, साहस, धैर्य, पराक्रम सरीखे अनेक तत्त्व हमारे अंग-प्रत्यंग में स्थिर हो रहे हैं ।''

(४) ''जितनी देर साँस आसानी से रोकी जा सके उतनी देर रोकने के बाद धीरे-धीरे साँस बाहर निकालिए, साथ ही भावना कीजिए कि प्राणवायु का सारतत्त्व हमारे अंग-प्रत्यंगों के द्वारा खींच लिए जाने के बाद अब वैसा ही निकम्मा वायु बाहर निकाला जा रहा है जैसा कि मक्खन निकाल लेने के बाद निस्सार दूध हटा दिया जाता है । शरीर और मन में जो विकार थे, वे सब इस निकलती हुई साँस के साथ घुल गये हैं और धुँए के समान अनेक दोषों को लेकर वह बाहर निकल रहे हैं ।''

(५) ''पूरी साँस बाहर निकल जाने के बाद कुछ देर साँस रोकिए, अर्थात् बिना साँस के रहिए और भावना कीजिए कि अन्दर के जो दोष बाहर निकाले गये थे उनको वापिस न लौटने देने की दृष्टि से दरवाजा बन्द कर दिया गया है और वे बहिष्कृत होकर हमसे बहुत दूर उड़े जा रहे हैं ।''

लोम-विलोम प्राणायाम
उपरोक्त प्राणाकर्षण प्राणायाम के बाद लोम-विलोम सूर्य-भेदन प्राणायाम का विधान है, जिसकी पद्धति निम्न प्रकार है ।
(1)किसी शान्त एकान्त स्थान में प्रातःकाल स्थिर चित्त होकर बैठिए । पूर्व की ओर मुख, पालथी मारकर सरल पद्मासन से बैठना, मेरुदण्ड सीधा, नेत्र अधुखुले घुटनों पर दोनों हाथ । यह प्राण- मुद्रा कहलाती है, इसी पर बैठना चाहिए ।

(2)बायें हाथ को मोड़कर तिरछा कीजिए । उसकी हथेली पर दाहिने हाथ की कोहनी रखिए । दाहिना हाथ ऊपर उठाइये । अँगूठा दाहिने नथुने पर और मध्यमा तथा अनामिका उँगलियाँ बायें नथुने पर रखिए ।

(3) बायें नासिका के छिद्र को मध्यमा (बीच की)और अनामिका (तीसरे नम्बर की) उँगली से बन्द की लीजिए । साँस फेफड़े तक ही सीमित न रहे, उसे नाभि तक ले जाना चाहिए और धीरे-धीरे इतनी वायु पेट में ले जानी चाहिए, जिससे वह पूरी तरह फूल जाय ।

(4) ध्यान कीजिए कि सूर्य की किरणों जैसा प्रवाह वायु में सम्मिलित होकर दाहिने नासिका छिद्र में अवस्थित पिंगला नाड़ी द्वारा अपने शरीर में प्रवेश कर रहा है और उसकी ऊष्मा अपने भीतरी अंग-प्रत्यंगों को तेजस्वी बना रही है ।

होली-उद्देश्य और शिक्षा

 

होलास्ति समतापर्वस्ताद्दिनेऽन्योन्यस्य वै ।
असमता ऽ सुरत्वस्य दाहः कार्यो होलिकावत्॥ १॥
होली समता का त्यौहार है। उस दिन निश्चय ही आपस की असमता रूपी असुरता का होली की तरह दाह करना चाहिए ।
कमप्यत्र समानेऽस्मिन्प्रभेदाज्ज्ान्मलिङ्गयोः ।
नोच्यं नीचं च मन्तव्यं प्रभोरेकस्य सन्ततौ॥२॥
जन्म और लिंग के प्रभेद के कारण इस समान और एक प्रभु को सन्तति में किसी को भी ऊँचा और नीचा नहीं मानना चाहिये ।
गुणकर्मस्वभावानां कृत्रिमभेदेन मानवाः ।
जायन्ते लिंग जातिभ्यां नीचाश्चोच्चास्तु न वस्तुतः ॥३॥
गुण, कर्म औ स्वभाव की कृत्रिम भिन्नता से मनुष्य उच्च और नीच बनते हैं, लिंग और जाति से नहीं । वैसे वास्तव में कोई भी उच्च और नीच नहीं होता ।
दुरीकुर्वन्षिमतां विभेदानां प्रयत्न्तः ।
आत्मीयत्वमेकतां च स्वीकुर्यात्स्वात्मवत्तया॥४॥
भेद-प्रभेदों की विषमता को दूर हटाते हुए एकता और आत्मीयता (अपनेपन) को अपनाना चाहिए ।
निन्दितं चार्थिकं लोके विषमत्वमसङ्गतम् ।
प्राप्तव्यो निखिलैस्तत्र चावसरस्तुल्योचतः॥५॥
संसार में आर्थिक विषमता, असंगत और निन्दित है । इस जगती-तल में सभी को (चाहे गरीब हो या अमीर) समान एवं उचित अवसर मिलने चाहिये ।
भूत्वा भीरुः दुर्बलो वा दीनस्तिष्ठन्ने मानवः ।
नृसिंहवच्च निर्भयो वीरो जीवेदिह सदा॥ ६॥
दीन, दुर्बल और डरपोक होकर मनुष्य को नहीं रहना चाहिए । सर्वदा इस संसार में नृसिंह की तरह निर्भय और वीर का जीवन जिये ।
धूलिं च मातृभूमेस्तु मस्तके धारयन्ति ये ।
सदैव तां च ध्यायन्ति नरा धन्यजीवनः॥ ७॥
जो मनुष्य मातृभूमि की धूलि को मस्तक पर धारण करते अर्थात् बढ़ाते हैं ओर सदा उस मातृभूमि का ध्यान रखते अर्थात् उसके लिये त्याग करते हैं, वे मनुष्य धन्य जीवन वाले अर्थात् सौभाग्यशाली हैं ।
वैमनस्रूं दुर्भावत्वं ज्वालयेच्य समूलतः ।
समानत्वेन प्रेम्णा च सानंदं निवसेदिह॥ ८॥
द्वेष और दुर्भाव को जड़ सहित जला देना चाहिए । संसार में समानता से और प्रेम से आनन्दपूर्वक रहना चाहिए ।
उचितमेव र्कत्तव्यं कर्मात्र खलु सर्वदा ।
जनकस्याप्यनुचितं चादेश कुर्यान्नैव हि॥ ९ ॥
संसार में सदा उचित कर्म ही निश्चय रूप से करना चाहिए । पिता की भी अनुचित आज्ञा अर्थात् बात को नहीं मानना चाहिये ।
प्रथमोऽस्ति समाजस्य चाधिकारो हि स्वार्जित ।यज्ञावशिष्टमितिच मत्वोपभुञ्जीत स्वयम् ॥ १०॥
अपनी कमाई में समाज का पहला अधिकार है । शेष को यज्ञावशिष्ठ है, यह मानकर स्वयं उपभोग में लाना चाहिये ।

होली का त्यौहार कैसे मनाया जाय?

 

किसी भी जाति के त्यौहार और उत्सव वहाँ के इतिहास और परम्परा के परिचायक होते हैं । उनसे उस जाति के ओज, शौर्य और अन्य गुणों का भी अनुमान लगाया जा सकता है । पर आजकल हमारे अधिकांश देशवासी त्यौहारों के मूल-तत्व को भूलकर उनको प्रायः उल्टे-सीधे ढंग से मनाने लग गये हैं, जिससे लाभ के स्थान पर प्रायः हानिक ही होती जान पड़ती है ।

समाज में विशेष रूप से चार श्रेणियों के व्यक्ति दिखलाई पड़ा करते हैं । पहले प्रकार के व्यक्ति वे हैं, जो अपने स्वार्थ का ध्यान बहुत कम रखते हैं और अपनी शक्ति तथा साधनों का उपयोग संसार के हित के लिये करते हैं । दूसरी श्रेणी के मनुष्यों में शक्ति की अधिकता होती है । और वे उस बल का प्रयोग सज्जनों की रक्षा तथा दुष्टों के दमन में करते हैं । तीसरे व्यक्ति वे होते हैं, जो ज्ञान और शारीरिक शक्ति का अभाव होते हुये भी आर्थिक दृष्टि से सफल होते है, वे कृषि, पशु पालन और व्यापार द्वारा उचित ढंग से धन कमाकर समाज के अनेक अभावों को दूर करने में सहायक बनते हैं । चौथी श्रेणी उन मनुष्यों की होती है, जो ज्ञान, बल ओर धन से रहित होते हुये शारीरिक श्रम से समाज की अत्यन्त उपयोगी सेवा करते हैं । इन चारों प्रकार के मनुष्यों को हम भारतीय समाज के प्राचीन संगठन के अनुसार ब्राह्मण, क्षत्रिय, वैश्य और शूद्र के नाम से पुकार सकते हैं ।

ये चारों श्रेणियों के व्यक्ति अपनी प्रवृत्ति के अनुसार समाज सेवा करते एक-दूसरे को सहयोग व सहायता प्रदान करते रहते थे । अपने र्कत्तव्यों के स्मरणार्थ प्रत्येक श्रेणी का एक-एक त्यौहार भी नियत किया गया था । इनमें से श्रावणी ब्राह्मणों का त्यौहार है जिस प्रकार वे किसी पवित्र जलाश्य के तट पर अपने धार्मिक र्कत्तव्यों का स्मरण करते हुए नवीन यज्ञोपवीत धारण करते हैं और प्रतिज्ञा करते हैं कि उस वर्ष द्विजत्व के कर्तव्य के पालन व सद्ज्ञान के प्रचार में दत्तचित्त रहेंगे । दशहरा क्षत्रियों का त्यौहार माना गया था । इस दिन पुरुषार्थी व्यक्ति अपने बल-पौरुष का अभ्यास कर हथियारों को साफ करके काम के लायक बनाते थे । जिसमें वे अपने आर्थिक कारोबार का सिंहावलोकन करके आगामी वर्ष के लिये बजट और योजना पर विचार करते थे । चौथा होली का त्यौहार है जिसमें श्रमजीवी वर्ग की ओर से सेवा और समानता के आदर्श की घोषणा की जाती थी ।

वर्तमान समय में यद्यपि सभी त्यौहारों में अनेक दोष घुस गये हैं और उनका आदर्श स्वरूप अधिकांश में लोप हो गया है, परन्तु होली का रूप सबसे अधिक बिगड़ा है । वैसे इस त्यौहार के मनाने की जो प्राचीन परिपाटी प्रतीक रूप में अब भी प्रचलित है, उससे प्रकट होता है कि यह एक विशुद्ध सामूहिक यज्ञ है । इस सम्बंध में निम्न तथ्य ध्यान देने योग्य हैं-

(१) एक मास पूर्व शमी की लकड़ी गाड़कर फाल्गुण सुदी १५ को लकड़ी, कंडे इकट्ठे करके जलाना यज्ञ का ही रूप है ।

(२) जलाने से पूर्व आचार्य पंडित द्वारा उसका पूजन होना और गाँव के मुखिया द्वारा पूजन करवाना यह यज्ञ के यजमान बनाये जाने का चिह्न है ।

(३) होली में नारियल के लच्छें लपेटकर डालना यज्ञ की पूर्णाहुति में नारियल चढ़ाने का चिह्न है ।

(४) इसके पूजन में मिठाई गुड़ आदि चढ़ाकर बच्चों में बाँटना यज्ञ में प्रसाद वितरण का लक्षण है ।

(५) इसकी लपटों में, अग्नि में हविपात्र की बालों को पकाकर खाना भी यज्ञ का ही एक लक्षण है ।

(६) होली एक ऐसा त्यौहार है जो ऋतुराज वसंत में आता है । इसी समय सर्दी का अन्त और ग्रीष्म का आगमन होता है । इस समय ऋतु-परिवर्तन से चेचक के रोग का प्रकोप होता है । इस संक्रामक रोग से बचने के लिये पुराने समय में टेसू के फूलों का रंग बनाकर एक-दूसरे पर डालने की प्रथा चलाई गई थी और यज्ञ की सामग्री में भी इन्हीं फूलों की अधिकता रखी गई थी जिससे वायु में उपस्थित रोग के कीटाणु नष्ट हो जायें । पर आज उस टेसू के लाभदायक रंग के स्थान पर हानिकारक विदेशी रंगों का प्रयोग किया जाता है और लोग उनके चटकीलेपन को पसन्द भी करते हैं । अब वह प्रथा बहुत विकृत हो गई है और लड़के तथा नवयुवक बुरे-बुरे रंग सर्वथा अनजान और भिन्न समाज वालों पर भी डाल देते हैं, जिससे अनेक बार खून-खराबी की नौबत तक आ जाती है और रंग की होली के बजाय खून की होली दिखलाई पड़ने लगती है । यह मूर्खता की पराकाष्ठा है, और ऐसे लोग-त्यौहार मनाने की बजाय देश तथा धर्म की हत्या करते हैं ।

(७) होली को पूर्वजों ने एक सामूहिक सफाई के त्यौहार के रूप में भी माना था । जैसे दिवाली पर प्रत्येक व्यक्ति निजी घर की लिपाई, पुताई और स्वच्छता करता है, उसी प्रकार होली पर समस्त ग्राम या कस्बे की सफाई का सामूहिक कार्यक्रम रखा जाता था । वसंत ऋतु में सब पेड़ों के पत्ते झड़-झड़ कर चारों और फैल जाते है, बहुत कुछ कूड़ा कबाड़ भी स्वभावतः इकट्ठा होता है, उस सबकी सफाई होली में कर दी जाती थी । पर अब लोग उस उद्देश्य को भूलकर दूसरों पर कीचड़ और धूल फेंकने को त्यौहार का अंग समझ बैठे हैं । इससे उल्टा लोगों का स्वाथ्य खराब होता है और अनेक बार आँख आदि में चोट भी लग जाती है ।

(८)प्राचीन समय में होली प्रेम भाव को बढ़ाने वाला त्यौहार था । अगर वर्ष भर में आपस में कोई-झगड़े या मनमुटाव की बात हो गई हो तो इस दिन उसे भुलाकर सब लोग प्रेम से गले मिल लेते थे और पुरानी गलतियों के लिए एक-दूसरे को क्षमा करके फिर से मित्र सहयोगी बन जाते थे अब भी इस दिन एक-दूसरे के यहाँ मिलने को जाते हैं, पर प्रायः नशा करके गाली बककर झगड़ा पैदा कर लेते हैं, जो होली के उद्देश्य के सर्वथा प्रतिकूल है ।

वास्तव में होली का त्यौहार हमारे समाज में सबसे अधिक सामूहिकता का परिचायक है और यदि इसे समझदारी के साथ मनाया जाय तो यह हमारे लिये अत्यन्त कल्याणकारी सिद्ध हो सकता है । जिस प्रकार होली के पौराणिक उपाख्यान में बतलया गया है कि सच्चे भक्त प्रहलाद् ने असत्य और अन्याय का प्रतिरोध करके सत्य की रक्षा की थी और उसी की स्मृति में होली के त्यौहार की स्थापना की गई थी, उसी प्रकार हम भी यदि इस वास्तविक उद्देश्य का ध्यान रखकर होली का त्यौहार मनायें तो इस अवसर पर वर्तमान समय में होने वाली अनेक हानियों से बचकर इस त्यौहार को लोक कल्याण का एक प्रमुख साधन बना सकते
