MATESHWARI SARASWATI was the first administrative head of Brahma Kumaris. She came into the fold during the early period of its inception. She was able to digest Godly Knowledge, revise and churn it very accurately and stood out from the rest. She had a very sharp intellect, which she mobilised in the service of God. Her original name was Radhe. She came to be known as Om Radhe.
Dadi Janki was born in 1916 in Hyderabad Sindh, in a very traditional community. However, by her early 20s she had disregarded the constraints of social conventions including the caste system, and became one of the few active women spiritual leaders.Under her guidance and inspiration centres of the institution now has branches in over 130 countries world-wide. Throughout her many years of work, Dadi has provided guidance and support for many, counselling them in a variety of areas, including emotional and psychological problems, family relationships and substance abuse. She works for an integral approach of education to include healthy emotional, spiritual, creative and social development.

Brahma Kumaris is an institution with a difference. It is run mostly by women with a spirit of dedication, devotion, renunciation and sacrifice for the welfare of the society as a whole, without any distinction on the basis of race, religion, nationality, caste or creed and without charging any fees. It is supported by voluntary contributions of its students.
